Michigan Wing IT: Members Portal *Update II*

Wait, can it be true, another update to the Members Portal? Absolutely! This time to let everyone know that I have created a members only forum on the Members Portal. This can be accessed through the 'Wing Resources' menu. I've created sections for Aerospace Education, Cadet programs and Emergency Services as well as a General Discussion section.

If you have an idea for a forum, please let me know. As things pick up speed I will be asking some members to act as moderators to help manage the forum groups.

You will also notice in the 'Wing Resources' menu options to edit your members profile, which will allow you to upload an image. This image will also display with your forum posts. There is also a Members List of people registered on this site. This list will allow you connect with other members and send them messages, which is nice especially if you don't happen to know thier e-mail address.

Michigan Wing IT: Members Portal *Update*

Out of the (currently) 1200 members of Michigan Wing, I'm sure the effects of the downturn in the economy is affecting a good number of us. markcurtisavatarLT-1Whether that be watching how we spend our money, to dealing with a paycut, to even dealing with the loss of a job. These times can be hard on us all.

A few short weeks ago, I too became a statistic.  As I had shared this news with the Wing Commander, it was his idea to setup a way on the Michigan Wing Website for folks among our membership to share their resumes, so other members who are either in a position to employ these members or are able to review these resumes for possible positions at their company can do so.

This is a great way to take advantage of the interpersonal networking we have as members of the Michigan Wing, Civil Air Patrol.

Very simply, find the new 'File Repository - beta -' from the 'Wing Resources' menu once you have logged in to the Members Portal (http://portal.miwgcap.com). Upload your resume, preferably in PDF format and then drop me a line to let me know you did so, I will then go and release it for viewing and assign it to the 'Members Resumes' folder within the file repository. If at any time you would like to either take down your resume or submit an updated version, simply upload the new version and notify me by e-mail.

This can and will be win-win for all of us as we help each other through these tough times!

ALSO, I wanted to mention, as of my previous e-mail, we only have had 67 (including those with accounts already) members sign up for Members Portal access. As I had mentioned earlier in this e-mail we have 1200 members in Michigan Wing, so for those who haven't signed up yet, go for it! Share the information with other members in your units. Commanders, please mention this during your meetings.

If you are signing up for the first time, remember to verify your e-mail address by clicking the link in the automated e-mail you receive from the portal. This is a very important step in completing your registration!

Any questions or comments about anything you have read here, please to do not hesitate to ask.
