Update on NCR Flooding from Col Steve Kuddes, NCR/CC

FOR WIDEST POSSIBLE DISSEMINATION
Over the past several weeks, the South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota Wings have been dealing with significant flooding.  Compounding the situations have been a steading stream of blizzards in the flooded areas as well as Kansas Wing.  A blizzard is approaching the flooded area now and that is the last thing they need.
Operations are continuing in North Dakota and will continue for some time.  Our North Dakota members are exhausted and have asked for assistance.  Members from South Dakota and Minnesota are stepping up at this time due to their closer proximity.  If operations continue and if the pending winter storms cause problems in their Wings, we will need the other Wings of the North Central Region to help.
Last year and earlier this year I warned that these situations were very possible.  It happened last year in Iowa and Missouri and now this year the Dakotas and Minnesota.  I asked that all of our Wings train and be prepared to answer the call.  It is very apparent that you have prepared and that you are willing to answer the call.  My thanks to you!

You must have an account on the Members Portal in order to access the new File Repository as we are going to be keeping U//FOUO documents in this location.

New Online Donating Made Easy On The Wing Website

Thanks to the efforts of Lt Mark Curtis, it is now possible for anyone to make a tax deductible donation to Michigan Wing and/or any of its subordinate units or programs through a new PayPal link on the Michigan Wing homepage at miwg.cap.gov Please share this information with anyone able to assist. The donor can designate the unit or program they would like to support, if other than a general donation, in the remarks section. CAP’s tax exempt status information is also linked there. If someone requires a receipt, have them e-mail me.

Michigan Wing currently only receives about $14,000 a year from rebates from your dues money. It is used to pay for headquarters, operating and maintenance expenses that are not AF reimbursed. Last year, we paid for electronic carbon monoxide detectors, which have been installed in all of our older aircraft, from these funds. We off set expenses of conferences, encampments and training sessions when fees collected were not enough. We pay for three air cards for laptops for mission use and for our internet connection at Wing Headquarters. We contributed one-third of the cost of sending cadet teams to the National Cadet Competition and half the costs for the Region Cadet Competition.

We would like to be able to do much more than we do now, but we need more dollars to do that. Michigan Wing has not raised dues since 1986 and we have no intention of doing it now, especially in this economic slump. So if you and your contacts are able, please help when you can. Thank you so much.
